VOTER RESOURCES

YOU CAN VOTE IN WYOMING IF YOU:

  • Are 18 years old on Election Day;

  • Are a U.S. citizen;

  • Have a residential address in Wyoming;

    • TIP: There is no minimum length of time you must to have lived here in order to vote. You just need to have a Wyoming address where you live most of the year. You do not need to provide proof of residency or address.

  • AND are a non-felon, or have had your voting rights restored.

WHERE TO REGISTER:

  • In-person at the County Clerk’s office 

  • At your polling place when you go vote (early or on Election Day)

  • By mail (contact your County Clerk's office)

WHO NEEDS TO REGISTER:

  • Register to vote if:

    • You have never voted in Wyoming

    • You have voted in Wyoming but did not vote in the most recent general election (2016)

    • You moved to a different county in Wyoming since the most recent general election (2016)

    • NOTE: If you are currently registered in another state, provide your previous address to the clerk so that you can be removed from that voting roll. 

  • Update your registration

    • If you moved within the county to a new precinct​

    • If you changed your name

  • If you voted in the most recent general election (2016) there is no need to re-register to vote in 2018.

IDENTIFICATION TO REGISTER TO VOTE

  • ONE (1) of the following:

    • Driver's license issued by Wyoming or another state

    • Student ID card with photograph

    • U.S. passport

    • Military ID card

    • ID card issued by local, state, or federal governmental agency

    • See alternate options 

  • NOTE: Some forms of ID will require you to also provide the last 4 digits of your SSN.

  • NOTE: You do NOT need to provide proof of residency or a verification of your address.

ARE YOU A STUDENT?

  • You can register to vote in Wyoming with your address while attending school in Wyoming.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS:

  • Voting with an absentee ballot allows you to:

    • Vote in the comfort of your own home, at your own pace, when you ask for yours to be mailed to you; OR

    • Vote early any weekday, 9am-5pm in-person at the County Clerk's office, from Sept. 21 - Nov. 5 (day before Election Day).

  • Should I absentee vote? YES, if...

    • You can't be sure you'll have time to go to your polling place on Election Day(*)​

    • You like to research each candidate or office as you go

    • You want to be in PJs and drinking coffee while doing your civic duty

    • You just feel like it (your County Clerk won't ask what your reason is!)

  • Absentee ballots can be requested by any elegible voter, for any reason, through the County Clerk’s office anytime within the calendar year of election, but not on Election Day.

  • Click one of the buttons at the top of the page to request your absentee ballot in Albany or Laramie County.

VOTING RIGHTS RESTORATION:

  • First time non-violent offenders, who were released after January 1, 2010 and have completed their supervision, have voting rights automatically restored.

  • Non-violent offenders released prior to January 1, 2010 must apply for restoration. Application can be found on the Department of Corrections website

HOMELESS AND VOTING?

  • Identify a residence such as a street corner, park, shelter, or any place that you usually stay.

  • Provide an address where you can receive mail, such as a shelter or advocacy organization.

WHERE DO I VOTE? 

ON ELECTION DAY

You will have a specific polling location that is determined by your residential address. 

EARLY IN-PERSON (ABSENTEE)

Go to your County Clerk's office, from now through Monday, November 5, 2018.

BY MAIL (ABSENTEE)

Contact your County Clerk's office to request your ballot. Return by mail or drop-off by 7pm on Election Day (Tuesday, November 6, 2018).

WORKING ON ELECTION DAY?

  • (*)If your work schedule makes it practically impossible for you to vote on Election Day, your employer must give you time off to vote without any penalty. It is your right, and it is the law!

  • You should inform your employer that you need time off before Election Day and your employer has the right to specify what hours you can take off.

  • If you cannot vote on Election Day, request an absentee ballot and mail it back to the County Clerk as soon as possible, or go to the County Clerk’s office to complete an absentee ballot in-person up to 40 days beforehand.

ACCESSIBILITY

  • Poll workers are required to help you at any time, even after you have entered the voting booth.

  • If you do not understand how to use the voting machines, cannot read the ballot, have difficulty reading and writing in English, or have a disability, ask the poll workers for help.

  • If you need special accommodations, call your County Clerk right away and ask for accommodations or a reassignment to an accessible polling location. Polling locations must comply to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

  • If you think your right to vote has been denied, call the ACLU Voter Protection Hotline at 877-523-2792
